Modeling SEM U van kit
These vans were converted from UB vans retaining their UB numbers in the early 60's. The conversion consisted of being fitted with high speed bogies. For many years VR ran what were called "Paper Trains" these trains left Melbourne in the early am hours and carried The Sun and The Age newspapers as well as green star parcels and departmental correspondence. The UF's were built for this service. Some UF's had an "F" stencil on the top corners indicating 60 MPH

UF 17, corrugated roof, wide doors, F stencil, Bendigo 1978

UF 55, plain roof, narrow (original) doors, lack of F stencil but note the "News Express Goods, Melbourne to Bendigo" stencil.
