Not my greatest photographic acheivment! On looking at an old neg I took from near the old Gas & Fuel building in 1978 I noticed that I had caught this classic VR scene. This blokes job was to adjust the clocks as trains departed Flinders Street so people looking at the clocks would always know when the next train was departing, labour intensive to be sure but it worked. When technology caught up with this practice it was proposed to replace the analog clocks with digital clocks, the public outcry saw the government direct the railways to make the analog clocks capable of operating without the need for human intervention.
