Built as AE's 21 & 26, converted to restarant cars: (Kiewa, BG1) and (Moyne, BG 2) in 1955 then gutted of restaurant fittings and converted back to sitting cars in 1961. Unlike an AE the BG's had open saloon type seating for1/2 of the car and 3 compartments. BG 1's permanent job in the 70's was on the Yarram pass. I never saw it operate on any other line. BG 2 was destroyed in a level crossing smash at Glenorchy in 1971.

BG 1's last service was as a "ASW test car" It is preserved at Seymour.
