HD 54 was converted from U 68 in 1957. At some stage the wooden louvres were covered over.

This Ballarat safety wagon, started life as U 272 (built new Apr 1897). It was converted to HD 111 in June 1958.
The register shows it as scrapped Sept 1973 but obviously it never made it to the scrappers torch!
HD 143 started life as U 6 which was built at Newport in 1889, it was converted to HD 143 Aug 1957,

| All is not as it seems! This HD is actually HD 58 but at some stage was wrongly numbered. The only HD 248 to ever exist was converted from a bogie VF wagon.
