The RY's were all converted from IZ, GZ and HZ wagons. Outside sill (shown above) numbers 2 - 599, 761 - 810. The outside sill type were all from IZ wagons with wheel handbrakes
Inside sill, (shown below) numbers 600 - 760, 811 - 2000, wheel and lever handbrakes. |

BELOW: RY 1285: Built as GZ 1285 in 1936, recoded to IZ 1285 circa 1956, recoded to RY 1285 in 1966.

IZ 322 was in service 1929, recoded to RY circa 1964, scrapped 1977, photo date circa 1932.

IZ 423 was in service 1930, recoded to RY 1964, it ended up as a KQ conversion in 1973 and was finally scrapped 1980, photo date circa 1935.
This photo shows the original pressed ends which were replaced when most of the class were fitted with HY type ends
